The technology behind these vinyl products is based on acetylene chemistry, which has long been a tradition within BASF. Walter Reppe, recognized today as the "Father of Acetylene Chemistry," first established the general principles of this chemistry more than 60 years ago at BASF. Due to decades of experience and extensive R&D efforts to improve the technology and to extend our product lines, BASF remains the unquestioned leader in acetylene chemistry.
