The objective of the New Business Development Unit is straightforward:
to respond quickly to your product needs and to help improve your
competitiveness by developing new intermediates that meet your
specific requirements, your deadlines and your cost targets.
Whether you need a specific compound that is not commercially
available or if you're interested in an alternate source, we can
help. We will evaluate your request quickly, reliably and confidentially
and, if the technical and cost factors are reasonable, we will
conduct the development work for you.
A key strength of BASF is our access to a wide range of core
technologies. Also, the depth of our chemical expertise enables
us to keep pace with increasing demands for innovative product
solutions. Two recent, important additions to our core capabilities
are Vinyl
Ethers and Chiral
Amines. We would be particularly pleased to work with you
in these areas.
BASF has developed a unique combination of in-depth resources
to meet your increasingly demanding requirements. These resources
include:
Research and Development
BASF has five major research laboratories with state-of-the-art
facilities. In total, more than 10,000 people are employed for
R&D within BASF. It is from this pool of expertise that we draw
the specialists that can help solve your particular needs. The
first job here is to determine the best synthetic route and then
to optimize yields and selectivity. Ready access to the latest
analytical methods and techniques is an advantage we bring at
this stage of your project.
Pilot Plant to Commercial Production
Our process chemists and engineers take the synthesis and work
towards proving its feasibility on the pilot plant level. The
information gathered here scopes out all aspects of the process
so that we can meet the production and quality demands of your
product. Also, small-scale production volumes can be supplied
at this time.
ISO 9001 Certified / GMP
This process optimization work opens the door to the plant selection
from more than 250 state-of-the-art facilities in Ludwigshafen,
Germany, and others around the world. All Chemical Intermediate
production units and support functions are ISO 9001 certified.
We are prepared to work under GMP guidelines, if required.
Support Service Functions
The choice of synthetic route, pilot plant and production facility
is also a function of upholding the strictest standards of product
and process safety, regulatory compliance and health and environmental
practices. All new processes are designed to adhere to or exceed
all regulatory standards before moving to pilot and/or manufacturing
facilities. We can also provide you with timely information on
analysis, CofA's, product safety, toxicology and new product registrations.
