Nomenclature

Nypel nomenclature follows the general formula of a grade designator + additive suffix + color descriptor. The grade designator is a 4-digit number. Nypel grades are limited to 2300 and 6000 series grades. Natural or uncolored grades do not contain a color descriptor in the product name

2300 Series

1st digit
Type of PA
2 = Nylon 6

2nd digit
Descriptor
3 = General Purpose

3rd digit (Composition) and 4th digit (x = grade differentiator)
1X = unfilled homopolymer
5X = unfilled modified
6X = mineral or glass/mineral filled

6000 Series

1st digit
Type of PA
6 = Nylon 6

2nd digit
Descriptor
0 = general purpose, glass filled

3rd and 4th digit
Percent Glass
15, 30, 33, 43

Suffixes
C = Alpha Crystalline
G = Glass
GM = Glass/Mineral
I = Impact
HS = Heat Stabilized
Note: Suffixes may not be used in all cases.

Examples
2314CHSBK – Nylon 6, unfilled homopolymer, nucleated, heat stabilized, black
2351HSBK – Nylon 6, unfilled flexurally modified, heat stabilized, black
2367GHS – Nylon 6, 15% glass, 25 % mineral, heat stabilized, natural
6015GHS – Nylon 6, 15% glass, heat stabilized, natural
