New Styrolux® Blister Packaging
Grade 3G46 is the latest addition to BASF’s portfolio
of clear styrene-butadiene copolymers (SBC). A high-performance
alternative to PVC and PET packaging films, Styrolux® 3G46
possesses outstanding clarity, exceptional toughness and economical
low density.
Compared with PVC or PET, Styrolux® 3G46 contains no chlorides,
halogens or plasticizers. In addition, the resin’s lower
density results in 30% lower weight, 30% higher yield and 30%
less material to purchase, ship, handle and transport. Styrolux®
3G46 blends easily with anywhere from 20% to 40% GPPS to tailor
rigidity, stiffness and economy.
Requiring no pre-drying, Styrolux® 3G46 provides trouble-free,
quick and easy start-up and processing on most commonly used
equipment in a variety of extrusion, molding and thermoforming
techniques. Scrap offers opportunities for reuse and recycling.
This FDA-registered material excels in upscale, quality applications,
including blister packaging, clamshells, cardstock, skin packaging
and rigid trays.
