Research & Development

At BASF, Research & Development isn't just about moving products through the pipeline. It's about making products better, brighter, healthier, stronger and safer. This is achieved through highly advanced technology, relentless innovation and manufacturing excellence. BASF's core competency is technology, with research laboratories at many sites throughout the world developing the next generation of products that will make our customers' products better. Our sites are located throughout the United States, including:

Charlotte, NC
Freeport, TX
Research Triangle Park, NC
Southfield, MI
Whitehouse, OH

Wyandotte, MI

Research is performed in many areas including biotechnology, coatings and colorants, crop protection, fibers, intermediate chemicals, health and nutrition, and polymers. As technology is steadily contributing to making the world a smaller place, our scientists must think globally to develop products that will best meet the demands of the marketplace. This is achieved through teamwork and communication among our scientists working in BASF laboratories worldwide. Our comprehensive chemical and technological know-how as well as our customer-focused research ensure the successful development of new products. Our research efforts are supported by our Verbund, BASF's highly developed approach to integration, which is one of the company's greatest strengths.
