Michigan

BASF Corporation’s Automotive Campus in Southfield, MI, is a research and development facility that also houses the administrative activities of the Automotive OEM Coatings/Automotive Components, Automotive Refinish, and Industrial Coatings business groups.  More than 400 employees work at the campus, which is located at the intersection of Telegraph Road and 11 Mile Road.

The BASF Automotive Campus is on 17.3 acres of land and consists of four buildings with a total size of 372,000 sq. ft. and a parking structure.  The Coatings Research Center and the Applications Research Center are the most prominent buildings on the campus.  The Coatings Research Center is the main center of BASF’s automotive coatings research and development and the Coatings and Colorants Division’s administrative functions.  The 55,000-sq.-ft. Applications Research Center features two automotive coating processing lines that mirror the same systems used by BASF’s customers.  Researchers can evaluate optimal coatings application systems and the appearance of fully finished automotive exterior components.
