BASF is the world's premier supplier of molded automotive parts made of microcellular polyurethane (MPU) for suspension applications. BASF is dedicated to helping automotive engineers develop high performance suspension systems that utilize the benefits of Cellasto® MPU (formerly known as “Elastocell®”). Together with our customers, we develop Cellasto MPU parts to fulfill unique requirements while reducing the development time between concept and production. We maintain North American manufacturing operations in Wyandotte, Mich., and as part of our worldwide presence, in China, Japan (joint venture), Brazil, and Germany (Elastogran GmbH)

Benefits
Compared with rubber, Cellasto MPU parts exhibit excellent dynamic durability, high volume compressibility, low compression set, excellent low temperature flexibility and consistent performance over time.
Parts made of Cellasto MPU are lower in weight than rubber parts of comparable size.
Jounce bumpers, spring aids, coil spring isolators, shock mounts and body mounts made of Cellasto MPU improve the overall ride characteristics of a vehicle. These and other NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) parts made of MPU isolate vehicle noises and vibrations from a vehicle's passenger compartment.
Cellasto MPU minimizes effects of bumps in the road through its superior progressive load deflection behavior. This improves ride, handling and comfort while driving on the smoothest to the roughest road conditions.

North American Operations
BASF Corporation is the leading supplier of Microcellular Polyurethane (MPU) jounce bumpers in North America.
BASF's Cellasto business's North American administrative and manufacturing operations are based in the Detroit, Mich., area -- the heart of the U.S. automotive industry -- at the company's Wyandotte, Mich., site.
The business is TS-16949 certified and was the first ever to achieve RC 14001 certification, an environmental, health and safety standard that combines elements of the American Chemistry Council's Responsible Care® initiative with the environmental management system (ISO 14001) established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Cellasto® is a registered trademark of Elastogran GmbH in Germany. Elastogran and BASF Corporation are members of the BASF Group (Ludwigshafen, Germany).
