BASF donates $1,600 to Bossier Parish Fire District 1
Company grant will help fund student education program on fire prevention
SHREVEPORT, La., September 30, 2004 -- BASF recently presented a
$1,600 “Helping Make Communities Better” grant to Bossier
Parish Fire District 1 that will be used to purchase resources for
a student education program on fire prevention that will be conducted
in local pre-schools, kindergartens, Platt Elementary School, Haughton
Middle School, and Haughton High School.
“At this time, there are no real fire prevention education
programs in rural Bossier Parish. This funding will allow us to
purchase the basic resources and teaching materials that we need
to start an effective program,” said Robert Roe, Assistant
Chief. “It is this kind of community spirit which allows us
to achieve great things together.”
Bossier Parish Fire District 1 plans to purchase video resources,
as well as a number of puppets, that will be used in the preschool
education program. This will include a new “Sparky the Firedog”
suit. “These materials will enhance our presentations, and
will make them more enjoyable and interesting to the children,”
said Roe.
“BASF is known as the company that helps make products better.
We also have a strong commitment to helping make the communities
in which we work and live better," said Dan Leal, Manager of
BASF’s Shreveport site. “We recognize the commitment
and dedication of the Bossier Parish Fire District and we are proud
to support their efforts with this donation.”
