| BASF sponsors golf tournament
to benefit Ascension Battered Women’s Program
Proceeds from sixth annual event to help provide shelter, counseling,
support
GEISMAR, La., October 11, 2004 -- If you enjoy a day out on the
links for a good cause, then BASF wants you to join its sixth annual
golf tournament benefiting the Ascension Battered Women’s
Program.
The tournament will begin on October 21 at 8 a.m. with a shotgun
start at Pelican Point Golf Club’s Lakes Course in Gonzales.
BASF employees organize the tournament each year. Over the past
six years, the events have raised nearly $63,000 for the program.
The Ascension Battered Women’s Program uses the donations
it receives to continue and expand its services to battered women
and their families. These donations have enabled the organization
to hire a second counselor, open an outreach office in the Donaldsonville
area, expand their services throughout the parish, and help pay
for the shelter's rent, telephone service, and supplies.
“We appreciate the community’s continued support of
our benefit golf tournaments,” said Brenda Roussel, an administrative
associate at BASF’s Geismar site, and chairperson for the
event. “We’re again inviting area golfers and sponsors
to join us for a fun event that raises money for a serious cause.”
The entry cost of $100 per person or $400 per team covers green
fees, cart, beverages and one mulligan package. Hole sponsorships
are available for $250. Tournament registration is limited to the
first 120 paid players.
Prizes will be awarded to the top five teams, for the longest drive,
the straightest drive, closest to the pin, and for a hole-in-one
on a designated hole. Door prizes will also be awarded.
The deadline for tournament entry is October 15.
