BASF sponsors ‘Kid’s Education Day’ at Morgan County Fair
Local kindergarten through 4th grade students enjoy ‘hands-on’ learning experiences

DECATUR, Ala., October 11, 2004 -- More than 800 local kindergarten through 4th grade students recently participated in “Kid’s Education Day” activities at the annual Morgan County Fair. The educational program was sponsored, in part, by a $3,000 “Helping Make Communities Better” grant from BASF.

The educational program featured a wide variety of ‘hands-on’ learning experiences, including such diverse topics as fire safety, dental hygiene, the world of wildlife and reptiles, and environmental conservation. The students also experienced first hand how bees make honey, and how corn is ground and used in different products.

“Without corporate sponsorship, this program would simply not be possible,” said Debra Talley, spokesperson for the Kid’s Education Day program. “We’re so glad to be able to offer this experience to the students.”

"BASF is an active corporate citizen and a positive force in communities where our sites are located,” said John Brock, Manager of BASF's Decatur site. “We're proud to sponsor this outstanding day of educational activities for our local children.”

Approximately 160 employees work at BASF's Decatur site. The site produces a variety of industrial coatings products.
