BASF launches new website for chemicals distributors
Distributors can quickly, easily locate products, sourcing

FLORHAM PARK, N.J., November 10, 2004 -- Authorized BASF distributors now have a convenient and easy way to locate sources for the company’s wide range of chemical products.

Based on BASF’s extensive product portfolio, a new website, located at www.basf.com/distributornetwork, gives distributors easy access to information about where BASF’s chemical products are produced, stocked and distributed in North America.

The new website provides access to the most frequently ordered oxo alcohols, inorganic salts, diols and polyalcohols, chelates and amines as well as specialty intermediates and performance chemicals, such as surfactants. Simply clicking on a product category reveals a chart that shows which production and distribution facilities provide each specific product in bulk or drums.

In early 2005, BASF will add features such as price lists, distribution policies and business rules. Links to individual product literature and material safety data sheets will also soon be added.

“BASF is implementing a ‘harmonized approach’ to distribution,” said Frank Bergonzi, Director, Distribution Program Management, for BASF’s chemicals business in North America. “This means that we’re giving distributors a wide product selection that only the world’s largest chemical company can provide, and enabling our channel partners to put together truckload orders across the various assets we operate in North America. We are making it easier and faster to buy from BASF and significantly reducing the time it takes to locate and source the products they need.”

Bergonzi said that the new site complements BASF’s convenient e-commerce platform, WorldAccount.

“Our distributor partners, by referencing this new website completely dedicated to them, will be able to quickly identify and find the products they need. As we add new functionality to this site, its utility will be further enhanced,” Bergonzi said.
