Three Strategic Areas for Sustainable Development

BASF’s and most other definitions of Sustainable Development include three fundamental elements – Economic Growth, Social Responsibility and Environmental Protection.

Economic Growth
As part of the 2015 strategic goal for achieve cost of capital, BASF is committed to the concept of value based management which also directly applies to this element of sustainable development. Our use of sustainable development tools such as the EcoEfficiency process ensures that new products and processes introduced by BASF, are not only economically attractive, but impart less environmental and energy impact over their life cycle.

Social Responsibility
BASF has programs and policies promote employee volunteerism and corporate donations in the areas of scholarship, community support, and disaster relief. Similarly BASF supports internal programs for mployee development and diversity.

Environmental Protection
BASF is an industry leader in the area of energy management, waste minimization, product stewardship and has a strong record of reducing the environmental footprint of its operations.
