Community Advisory Panels
(CAPs)
BASF manufacturing sites in North America actively
participate in Community Advisory Panels (CAPs). Our
goal is to reach out to local community leaders and
introduce them first hand to BASF plant operations.
By encouraging a two-way flow of information, we hope
to enhance communication with the communities in which
we operate.
What is a CAP?
A CAP consists of a group of individuals who live near
or around a chemical facility and who represent the
fabric of their community. CAP members have made a commitment
to meet with the management of the local plant on a
regular basis to discuss issues of mutual interest.
It is a forum for open and honest dialogue between citizens
and plant management. The CAP meets regularly to discuss
common issues of mutual interest. A CAP is an independent
body. It is not controlled by the plant or the chemical
industry.
Who belongs to the CAP?
Key audiences within a community are represented on
the CAP. These audiences may include environmental groups,
civic leaders, business leaders, homemakers, hourly
workers, and individuals who represent key elements
of a community such as clergy, health care providers,
emergency responders and educators. |
