BASF Corporation announced
today that it will donate approximately 5.4 acres of land to the
School District of Pickens County
CLEMSON, S.C. - February
7, 2000 - According
to General Manager, Ed Donnelly, the BASF property to be donated
is now part of the Fiber Products Division's plant site located
along Johnson Road between Norris and Central. The school district
will use the land to provide an additional parking area for school
buses and to perform light maintenance on the buses.
"The BASF Clemson
site has been a strong supporter of education for many years,"
Donnelly said. "We have a partnership with Central Elementary
School, provide a chemistry scholarship annually to a deserving
Picken's County high school student, support the after school
Homework Centers, and now with this latest effort, support the
Picken's school district by donating this property."
Dr. Duke Hucks, Superintendent
commented "On behalf of the School District of Pickens County,
I would like to express appreciation to BASF Corporation and particularly
to the BASF Clemson site for the donation of approximately 5.4
acres of land for a combined bus office of the Liberty attendance
area and the Daniel attendance area. This will allow us to combine
what are now two bus offices into one which will make that operation
more productive and cost effective.
This is something
we have wanted to do for years and it will save the school district
money from this point forward. The site is an ideal location and
will function well for our intended use. We are grateful to BASF
for this donation. They have always been a great cooperate partner
with the school district and this is just another example."
