BASF employee group raises $3,000 for low-income family childcare
Silent auction proceeds benefit Angel Land Child Care and Parent Institutes

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., October 27, 2003 - The Southfield Employee Activities Association (SEAA), a non-profit organization comprised of BASF employees, raised and donated $3,000 to Angel Land Child Care and Parent Institutes.

The donation came from proceeds the SEAA raised at its "Evening Under the Stars" silent auction recently held at BASF's research and administrative complex in Southfield.

Angel Land Child Care and Parent Institutes provide childcare for low-income families at four centers in the Detroit area. The centers offer a supportive environment that promotes creative learning experiences, multi-cultural awareness, traditional values and the holistic development of children. The organization's goal is to contribute to the intellectual, social, physical and emotional development of children, including those who are physically and mentally challenged.

Approximately 75 people attended "Evening Under the Stars" to bid on more than 50 auction items, which included:
· Detroit Pistons tickets and autographed paraphernalia;
· Detroit Red Wings tickets;
· Jewelry;
· Tickets to "The Nutcracker;"
· Gift certificates; and
· Various consumer electronics.

"Our group strives to improve the Southfield community by supporting worthwhile organizations like Angel Land Child Care and Parent Institutes," said SEAA member Tina Tinsley, who is also a Lab Technician for BASF's Coatings business at Southfield. "We're so pleased we could do something for the kids, and we had a lot fun doing so with our successful silent auction event."
