| BASF introduces Protectol
CX™ Type A wood preservative
Chromium- and arsenic-free wood preservative offers protection against
fungi, insects
FLORHAM PARK, N.J., January 27, 2006 -- BASF has introduced Protectol
CX™ Type A, a chromium- and arsenic-free wood preservative based
on proprietary copper-HDO technology. The product provides protection
against wood-destroying fungi and insects, including termites,
and has been recently approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency.
“Copper-HDO formulations have been successfully used by
wood treaters throughout Europe since the beginning of the 1990s,
and are established as one of Europe’s leading chromium-
and arsenic-free alternatives to traditional wood preservative
products,” said Dino Karanikas, Director, Industrial Specialties
for BASF in North America.
Protectol CX™ Type A preservative has been standardized
by the American Wood Preservers’ Association for applications
such as decking and fencing. Protectol CX™ Type A extends the service
life of wood products, giving them improved mechanical properties
and enhanced aesthetic appearance compared to untreated wood.
