| BASF sets annual American Heart Association
golf tournament for April 7
Sponsors hoping for another big year in support of heart disease
research
GEISMAR, La., February 28, 2006 -- With warm spring weather just
around the corner, BASF is hoping for a big turnout at its April
7 golf tournament benefiting heart disease research.
"We had a fantastic turnout at last year’s event,” said
event coordinator Kristen Burns of BASF’s Geismar site. “We
are getting the word out early, and hopefully we will have outstanding
participation again this year.”
The tournament, sponsored for the sixth consecutive year by BASF,
raises money for the American Heart Association. Proceeds from
the tournament are used for research into heart and blood vessel
diseases and to provide services such as educating the public on
cardiovascular disease and stroke. Last year, the tournament raised
more than $12,000, bringing the five-year total to $67,000.
The tournament begins with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Entry fees
are $100 per person or $400 for a team of four, and cover green
fees and carts, prizes, food and beverages. The top five teams
will receive prizes, and awards will also be given in the “longest
drive” and “closest to the pin” categories.
Sponsorships are available at several levels of support, ranging
from $250 hole sponsorships (bronze level) to a $5,000 tournament
co-sponsorship (diamond level). All sponsorships above the bronze
level include the entry fee for a foursome to play in the tournament.
