BASF awards science scholarships to local high school
students
Grants continue company’s support of science education
EVANS CITY, Pa., May 30, 2006 -- BASF has awarded $1,000 scholarships to
Eric Crowley, a senior at Mars Area High School, and Samantha Bell, a senior at
Seneca Valley High School, in recognition of their academic excellence in
science.
Later this year, Crowley will attend Allegheny College and Bell will attend
the University of Pittsburgh.
The scholarships continue BASF’s support of science education at local high
schools.
“BASF has a strong commitment to supporting the communities in which we do
business and to supporting education as part of our ‘Helping Make Communities
Better’ grant program,” said Mark Finch, Manager of Site Services at BASF’s
Evans City site. “We’re pleased to be able to support outstanding students such
as Eric and Samantha.”
Products from BASF’s Evans City site are used mainly in the pharmaceutical
industry, and are also used in applications like agrochemicals, surfactants,
adhesives, polymers, electronics, flavors, fragrances and automobiles.
