BASF’s Pasadena site earns safety award from Texas Chemical Council
Site recognized for having no employee injuries or illnesses in 2005
Pasadena, Texas, July, 28, 2006 -- The Texas Chemical Council (TCC) has
recognized BASF’s Pasadena, Texas, site with the “Zero OSHA Recordable” award.
BASF was recognized at a TCC event at the Moody Gardens Hotel and Conference
Center in Galveston.
“We are very pleased to received this award and proud of the every day
efforts of our employees to remain injury and illness free,” said Vik Bhandari,
Manager of BASF’s Pasadena site.
The council’s awards program uses established performance criteria to
promote continual safety improve at member companies’ facilities. The Zero OSHA
Recordable award recognizes facilities that did not have an employee OSHA
(Occupational Safety and Health Administration) recordable injury or illness in
the previous year.
Founded in 1953, Texas Chemical Council is a statewide trade association
representing more approximately 82 companies in Texas that represent more than
90 percent of chemical manufacturers within the state.
BASF’s Pasadena site employs about 100 employees and 35 contractors.
Plasticizers produced at the site give flexibility to vinyl, which is in turn
used to make many consumer products such as plastic films, cables and medical
equipment.
