BASF to raise prices for Myacide®, Protectol™ Glutaraldehyde biocide products

FLORHAM PARK, N.J., August 15, 2006  -- Effective September 1, or as contracts allow, BASF will increase list and off-list prices by 10 percent in the United States for all grades and forms of Myacide and Protectol glutaraldehyde biocide products. Affected products are Myacide GA 50, Myacide GA 45, Myacide GA 25, Myacide GA 15, Myacide GDA Technical and Protectol GA 50.

The price increases for glutaraldehyde products is necessitated by the continuous rise in the price of oil, certain petrochemical feedstocks, and of intermediates used in glutaraldehyde production along with rising energy costs associated with manufacturing.

Due to potential inventory considerations, there may be a control on monthly purchases during the period prior to the effective date of the price increase.

Myacide and Protectol are registered trademarks of BASF Corporation and BASF Aktiengesellschaft.
