BASF to increase prices for its Butanediol and derivatives in North America

FLORHAM PARK, N.J., September 1, 2006 -- Effective October 01, 2006, or as contracts allow, BASF will increase its list and off-list prices in the United States, Canada and Mexico by $0.07 per pound for 1,4 Butanediol (BDO), Tetrahydrofuran (THF), PolyTHF® Polytetramethylene-etherglycol, Gamma-Butyrolactone (GBL) and N-Methylpyrrolidone (NMP).

BDO and its derivatives are used for production of engineering plastics, polyurethanes, solvents, electronic chemicals and elastic fibers (PolyTHF). With seven plants on three continents, BASF is the world’s leading producer of butanediol and its derivatives.
