BASF adds date for Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling technologies Web seminar

EVANS CITY, Pa., October 20, 2006 -- BASF has added a second date for its on-line seminar on Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling technology. The seminar, titled "The Suzuki Reaction: New Strategies for the Synthesis of Borane Coupling Partners," will be presented live on Nov. 2 beginning at 9 a.m. EST, in addition to the Nov. 1 date that was announced previously.

Registration for the Nov. 2 seminar is available at www.v-workshops.com/pby/basf. Registration for the Nov. 1 session is still available at www.v-workshops.com/pby/basf.

The Suzuki-Miyaura reaction - also known as Suzuki coupling - is a powerful synthetic tool for the formation of carbon-carbon bonds that can help pharmaceutical companies build complex molecules more efficiently. Karl Matos, Ph.D., Research Manager, Inorganics, for BASF in North America, is the presenter for the seminar.

BASF has a portfolio of reagents that can be used to synthesize valuable Suzuki precursors. This portfolio includes bis(pinacolato) diboron and pinacolborane - reagents for direct borylation to make boronic ester Suzuki intermediates for the formation of key bi-aryl structures - as well as highly selective hydroboration reagents for alkyl group transfer.
