BASF’s Charlotte Technical Center employees join ‘Race for the Cure’
CHARLOTTE, N.C., November 5, 2006 – On Saturday, October 7, 2006, 50 BASF
employees and family members from the Charlotte Technical Center took part in
the 10th annual Komen Charlotte Race for the Cure helping Komen Charlotte to
raise almost $1 million for breast cancer research, education, and local
outreach programs.
In addition to participating in the run, employees from the Charlotte
Technology Center (CTC) held a fund raising event October 5th to collect
donations for Komen Charlotte. The ice cream social enabled employees who could
not take part in the race to be involved in this worthy cause. The social also
provided a pleasant opportunity for colleagues to get to know each other
better.
“Jennifer Hursey, Janice Cohen and Bobbie Parks did an outstanding job of
organized the event and winning support from the entire CTC organization,” says
Gretchen Sawchuk, Human Resource Manager for BASF in Charlotte. “The
number of people that came together to show support was impressive.”
BASF provided support for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation event
by paying the admission of any employees that attended the walk / run.
In total, more than 12,000 walkers and runners took part in the race.
