BASF appoints Peter Montenegro Market Development Manager serving the asphalt industry

CHARLOTTE, NC, July 18, 2007 – BASF announced today that it has appointed Peter Montenegro as Market Development Manager for Asphalt in the Construction business of BASF’s Functional Polymers Regional Business Unit (RBU) in North America.  In his new role, Montenegro will focus on the public transportation agency market segment.

Montenegro has an extensive background in liquid asphalt technologies. Much of the last 15 years, he was a marketing consultant to highway and heavy construction businesses, introducing new products into the Northeast region.

From November 1998 to March 2001, he was a territory manager for Chevron Products Company located in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, where he managed the marketing and sales of specification liquid asphalt materials.  In that position, he had responsibility for the greater New York City and Boston markets during the introduction of performance graded asphalt cements in concert with the implementation of Superpave hot-mix asphalt design specifications.  Also during that time, he helped Chevron’s hot-mix asphalt manufacturing customers to research thin-mix maintenance overlays that used BASF polymer products.  He has also worked with emulsified asphalt manufacturers/applicators on design specifications for BASF polymer modified cold-mix asphalt pavement maintenance systems.

Montenegro is a native of Massachusetts and a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He resides in Connecticut where he will continue to work for BASF from a home office.
