BASF awards scholarships to two area high school graduates
Scholarship program part of company’s focus on science education

GREENVILLE, OH, June 17, 2008 – During a recent Community Advisory Panel meeting with area residents, BASF’s Greenville site awarded $1,000 college scholarships to Ryan Boyer, a graduate of Greenville High School, and Jessica Hildebrand, a graduate of Franklin Monroe High School.

BASF’s Greenville site awards scholarships each year to students who demonstrate academic excellence and plan to study science-related fields in college. This year, 12 students applied for the scholarships.

Boyer will be attending Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, to study mechanical engineering, and Hildebrand is attending Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio, to study pharmacy.

“BASF has a strong commitment to supporting the communities in which we do business and to supporting science education,” said Rob Hull, Operations Manager at BASF’s Greenville site. “We’re pleased to be able to provide annual scholarships to local outstanding students.”

“We really appreciate BASF’s commitment to supporting our students at the local and county level by offering these two science scholarships,” said David Peltz, Assistant Principal at Greenville High School.

Approximately 150 people work at BASF's Greenville site, which produces resins and coatings used in automotive and industrial applications.
