Visit any office supply store or peruse a magazine stand and you'll see countless types of paper, each with variations in color, weight, sheen, whiteness, and other important characteristics. BASF pigments help papermakers make better paper at lower cost-and meet almost any papermaking requirement.
BASF offers an exceptionally broad line of kaolin-based pigments that give papermakers the coating and filler pigment solutions they need to optimize paper properties and maximize value. We offer glossing, coating, delaminated, specialty, inkjet, calcined and filler grades, as well as metering size press (MSP) grades. We also offer an extensive line of special effect pigments, some of which may be coated onto paper to create pearlescent, lustrous, iridescent and other eye-catching visual effects.
In fact, we raised MSP coating pigments to new levels of performance with our kaolin-based Mirafilm line of pigments, designed for MSP operations. These pigments promote the development of gloss better than other kaolin-based products in MSP systems and works at commercial film coater speeds. This allows mills to make fuller use of MSP technology for a variety of papers.
We also work to ensure mills gain the most benefit from our pigments-from help in finding the right grade, to offering specialized testing, to placing entire technical teams on site. Our products are manufactured in ISO 9002-certified plants and under an exacting statistical process quality control program that broke new ground in the kaolin industry.
