Translink® aluminosilicates are high-performance reinforcing extenders designed to improve performance and strength in a wide range of polymer systems for plastics, rubber, coatings, and sealants. Generally, BASF Translink kaolin-based reinforcements improve polymer performance by providing:
- Improved processing and dispersion
- Enhanced mechanical strength
- Improved impact and flexural strength
- Improved electrical insulative properties
- High hydrophobicity
- Improved durability
Specific Uses
In the highly competitive global automotive market, many plastics are now formulated using Translink reinforcements to help compounders achieve a balance of performance characteristics difficult to obtain with unfilled plastics or other mineral reinforcements. And in rubber applications, Translink aluminosilicates provide high strength, as well as electrical, moisture and high tear strength in such products as power cable and accessories, insulating apparel, gaskets and thermoplastic elastomers (TPE). In coatings and sealant applications, Translink products improve barrier properties and increase water resistance and physical strength without adhesion loss.
Translink Grades
Translink 37: fine particle size, high brightness grade designed to reduce water transmission in crosslinked polyethylene and the EPR polymer systems used in electrical applications.
Translink 77: ultrafine particle size, high-brightness, premium performance grade with excellent hydrophobic and reinforcing properties for use in a variety of rubber applications, including high-voltage cable insulation where maximum stress and tear strength are critical, such as in mining cable.
Translink 445: fine particle size, high-brightness and high-performance grade designed for use in nylon, polyester epoxy, phenolic and other polar polymeric applications.
Translink 555: ultrafine particle size, high-brightness, higher performance grade designed for use in nylon, polyester epoxy, phenolic and other polar polymeric applications.
Translink HF-900: fine, higher aspect ratio particle size, high-brightness, premium performance grade designed for use in nylon, polyester epoxy, phenolic and other polar polymeric applications where better flexular modulus is required.
