The BASF Industrial Coatings Solutions business is based in Southfield, Mich. The Coatings Research Center in Southfield is the North American hub of BASF coatings research and development for new products, application systems and color development. With 99,000 square feet of laboratory space, the Coatings Research Center boasts the industry’s most advanced technical facilities and enables chemists and technicians of all three BASF coatings groups—industrial, automotive OEM and automotive refinish—to collaborate and share innovations.

The Coatings Research Center is also the focus of administrative and marketing activities for the Industrial Coatings group, with more than 20,000 square feet of office space and a 3,500-square-foot atrium for meetings and demonstrations.

In addition to the Southfield site, BASF coatings laboratories are located strategically throughout the world, giving BASF a global coatings capability.
