As a core element of its anniversary program, BASF connects people and ideas around the globe with its Creator Space™ Tour to discover solutions for challenges of smart energy, food, and urban living. The tour stops in Shanghai, and New York focused on the challenges brought by an increase in urbanization.
Following the kickoff event in Mumbai in January, the Creator Space™ Tour stopped in Shanghai from March 20 to 27. More than 500 employees and urbanization experts, business professionals, NGOs, academia, and interested citizens with different perspectives and expertise exchanged views on issues such as sustainable transportation and waste disposal. By 2020, 60 percent of the Chinese population will be living in cities. How will the choices of 700 million urban consumers in China affect their economic, environmental, and social environment.
In New York, from May 26 to 31, the participants of the event addressed aspects like habitat, citizenship, and resilience. The quarter of Red Hook in Brooklyn, served as the case study on how publicprivate partnerships can help resolve the evolving needs of global cities.
