Are you an engineer focusing on process technology, chemical or bio-engineering and are looking for an employer who offers you incredible perspectives?

In research and development you will work on developing new or improving existing production processes. In addition, research offers you freedom for your own creative ideas.

In engineering you will provide support for plant construction projects in Germany and beyond. You will cooperate with the project team and the participating departments. From the very start you can take on demanding tasks with commitment and responsibility.

In research and development we are looking for team players who have completed their degree and ideally their PhD in the areas of chemical engineering or process technology with above-average grades.

You should have in-depth knowledge about one of the following areas: polymer technology, reaction technology, chemical process technology or thermal process technology/thermodynamics.

For engineering, you are in the right place with us if you have completed your degree and possibly your PhD in chemical engineering or process technology with above-average grades.

Practical experience, e.g. internships, would be advantageous. You have a high level of creativity and have excellent communication skills in German and English. Working in international teams has become a matter of course for you.

In research and development you will start in technical development, process development or application technology.

All starting positions are technically very close to the topics covered at universities. The difference is the clear focus on business requirements - and a holistic approach to the production process. In addition to technical functions, this also includes safety, profitability and environmental impact.

The tasks in process development and technical development are complex and highly varied. For example, chemical processes must be implemented from the lab to meet industry standards. Sometimes new concepts are required for existing processes. Using materials and operating data, experiments and simulations, you will create solution proposals and investigate these in targeted experiments.

In engineering, process engineers usually start in plant engineering (here mainly in process technology or plant planning) or, depending on their area of focus, also in the specialist center for automation technology.

Plant engineering is responsible globally for constructing new plants and infrastructure. The optimization and technical condition of the production plants are key success factors for our company. Taking into account the requirements for safety, environmental impact, process concept and profitability is an integral part of our work.

As a lab team leader or research engineer you take on tasks like these:

  • Scientific work on a research project, e.g. to develop new production processes
  • Collaboration in interdisciplinary, often multicultural teams at BASF with chemists, business economists, physicists and biologists
  • Project management with economic assessment
  • Technical management of a lab or development team
  • Registering patents

Process engineers in plant construction take on the following tasks:

  • Working on an investment project for constructing a chemical plant
  • Producing plant concepts for new construction and expansion measures
  • Producing process models based on materials and operating data using the most up-to-date simulation tools

As soon as you join the company, we offer supporting seminars, and then later provide international opportunities for further training and development. You will be contributing directly to a specific project.

Training is on the job in a committed and motivated team with the support of an assigned mentor.
