Die neue Acetylen-Anlage, die die fast 60-jährige alte Anlage am Verbundstandort Ludwigshafen ersetzt, kann jährlich 90.000 Tonnen der vielseitigen Chemikalie produzieren. Etwa 20 Betriebe am Standort Ludwigshafen nutzen Acetylen als vielseitig einsetzbaren chemischen Baustein und Ausgangsstoff für viele Produkte des täglichen Lebens. BASF-Kunden produzieren daraus Arzneimittel, Kunststoffe, Lösemittel, Elektrochemikalien sowie hochelastische Textilfasern zum Beispiel für die Automobil-, Pharma-, Bau-, Konsumgüter- und Textilindustrie. Die Einbindung der Anlage in das Verbundkonzept der BASF bietet die Vorteile einer effizienten Ressourcennutzung, exzellenter Produktionssynergien und kurzer Lieferwege. Damit baut die BASF die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit des Standorts Ludwigshafen langfristig weiter aus. New insulation board containing recycled material used in pilot project by ABG, BASF and Sto

Ludwigshafen, Frankfurt am Main and Stühlingen, Germany - In a recently completed pilot project, BASF, together with the housing society ABG FRANKFURT HOLDING and the manufacturer of external thermal insulation composite systems Sto, successfully used an insulation board based on expandable polystyrene (EPS) containing recycled material.
The individual electrolyzer modules are linked to each other and to the H2 network at the site in three so-called arrays.

BASF commissions 54-megawatt water electrolyzer

Germany’s largest proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer has gone into operation at BASF’s Ludwigshafen site. Designed to produce zero-carbon hydrogen, the electrolyzer has a connected load of 54 megawatts and the capacity to supply the main plant with up to one metric ton of this substantial chemical feedstock every hour. After a construction period of around two years, the plant was officially inaugurated today in the presence of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Minister for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, and Mobility Katrin Eder, and Udo Philipp, State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.

BASF and Sika launch epoxy hardener for sustainable solutions in the construction industry

BASF and Sika have jointly developed a new amine building block for curing epoxy resins, which is now commercially available under BASF’s Baxxodur® EC 151 brand. This new development is particularly interesting for flooring applications, for example, in production plants, storage and assembly halls, as well as parking decks.

The world's first biomass-balanced polyethersulfone (PESU)

To all industries relying on high-performance thermoplastics, BASF is now offering the world’s first biomass-balanced polyethersulfone (PESU). Ultrason® E 2010 BMB contributes to substituting fossil resources, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and increasing the use of renewable feedstock. This unique PESU enables customers in industries as diverse as household and catering, automotive, electrics and electronics (E&E), healthcare as well as water and sanitary to differentiate their products from the competition. It also helps them to achieve their sustainability goals - all without compromising on the material’s performance, quality or the need to invest extra money into new processing lines.
The groundbreaking ceremony marks the beginning of the establishment of a new mold line, aimed at offering customized products that support the growth plans of various Original Equipment Manufacturers.

Cellasto® strengthens its position in India by taking steps for capacity enhancement

Dahej, India – February 24, 2025 – BASF India Limited has broken ground on a new plant to increase the production capacity of its Cellasto® microcellular polyurethane (MCU) in Dahej, India. Under BASF's new "Winning Ways" strategy, the plant will be constructed with state-of-the-art technologies and automation systems to ensure that BASF’s high standards of safety and quality are upheld. The plant, expected to be operational in the second half of 2026, features a new mold line in its first stage and empowers Cellasto® to meet the high demands of the rapidly growing local market.
