Start-up of the steam cracker at BASF’s Verbund site in Zhanjiang, China

BASF has successfully commissioned the steam cracker at its newly built Verbund site in Zhanjiang in South China as scheduled. This is the first cracker in the world using 100 percent renewable energy to drive its main compressors (eDrives).

BASF to divest its optical brightening agent business to Catexel

BASF and Catexel have signed an agreement on the sale of BASF’s optical brightening agent business. Optical brightening agents are ingredients in laundry detergent formulations. The business is currently part of BASF’s Care Chemicals division.
