CropDesign is a biotech company with a proven track record in plant phenotyping.
It combines a unique automated smart greenhouse, designed for deep and high-throughput phenotyping of various plant species, with automated state-of-the-art data acquisition technologies and advanced statistical and computational analysis. The greenhouse allows evaluation of different plant growth regimes, as well as screening of chemicals or biologicals.
CropDesign was founded in 1998 as a spin-off from the VIB (Flanders Institute for Biotechnology) and Ghent University. In June 2006, the company was acquired by BASF Plant Science. CropDesign currently employs around 40 people in the Ghent region.
