BASF Polska receives award at COP24 climate summit
December 21, 2018
This year the climate summit is taking place in Katowice, Poland. BASF Polska is actively involved in accompanying discussions on corporate social responsibility. Its management and employees are taking actions to raise awareness on climate change.
Under the topic “Cities for Climate“, Katarzyna Byczkowska, Managing Director BASF Polska, participated in a panel discussion on entrepreneurship for sustainable development: “Companies and customers have a choice. Our choice as BASF is to create chemistry for a sustainable future. We are proud of the ambitious goals announced in our new corporate strategy such as carbon neutral growth, focus on accelerator solutions as well as responsible procurement. We encourage and enable our business partners to join us along this path.”
During the conference, BASF Polska was awarded by the Ministry of Investment and Economic Development and the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) for its engagement in the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals. The award was handed over by Jerzy Kwieciński, Minister of Investment and Economic Development and Kamil Wyszkowski, Director of UNGC.
BASF Polska is a long term partner of the “Sustainable Cities“ program led by UNGC and a signatory to the “Partnership for Sustainable Development Goals” by the Ministry of Investment and Economic Development.
The climate summit is also an inspiration for BASF Polska to join a social campaign fighting against smog in Polish cities. Polish celebrities and BASF employees are holding their breath to collect “The first 24 hours without smog“.
The engagement of employees in Poland went even further: Collecting plastic caps for a noble purpose, sharing books on climate change, gathering ideas and individual commitments for climate protection – so much and much more is happening in BASF offices in Poland these days.
