Initiatieven in de Benelux

De meeste elementen uit het Carbon Management Programma zijn vooral toepasbaar op onze grote productiecomplexen en Verbund-sites. Ook op onze andere sites nemen we maatregelen om de CO2-uitstoot te verlagen.

ISO 50001-norm ingevoerd

Sinds eind 2018 werd de ISO 50001-norm ingevoerd op een aantal van sites in de Benelux. Deze norm beschrijft de eisen waaraan het energiemanagementsysteem moet voldoen. Met het systeem wordt ons gas- en elektriciteitsgebruik geregistreerd en gemonitord. De gegevens slaan wij op in een database om de prestaties met elkaar te kunnen vergelijken. Zo realiseerde onze site in Heerenveen een jaarlijkse energiebesparing van 33 procent door aanpassing en vernieuwing van bestaande energie-installaties. Ook in De Meern daalt het energieverbruik op termijn door de investeringen in efficiëntere installaties.

 

Een ander element van de ISO-norm is het gebruik van groene elektriciteit. Een aantal sites in België en Nederland maken al gebruik van groene energie. Het is ons doel om alle locaties in de Benelux  locaties groene stroom te laten gebruiken.

The modern control station in an inter-mediate products plant at the Ludwigshafen site is where all information relating to the plant comes together. Using numerous screens, the plant operators control and monitor the highly complex chemical processes. On the “Collaboration Board,” a large touchscreen in the center of the room, the employees call up all the important information at the same time and can thus work in an effective and concentrated manner. Chemical technician and plant operator Laura Giachetta discusses a plant flow chart with her colleagues at the “Collaboration Board”. The plant for intermediate products is made up of 16 plant sections and manufactures a broad portfolio of around 50 intermediate products such as amines or diols. BASF customers need these products for applications including the production of coatings for the automotive industry, pharma or crop protection products.

Samenwerking met topwetenschappers

In het Nederlandse onderzoekscentrum ARC CBBC werken we samen met topwetenschappers. De onderzoekers ontwikkelen nieuwe groene bouwstenen voor de chemische industrie, zoals lignine uit hout en chitine uit garnalenschillen. In een volgend artikel komt een collega aan het woord om je meer inzicht te geven over rol is in deze samenwerking.
