Sikuani Women Planting Dreams

The Sikuani community is an indigenous people in eastern Colombia. One of the main tasks for women is to process bitter yucca with fiber tools to produce baskets and flour, which are then being sold to adjacent customers. In order to supply their families, they are expanding their activities to also fruits and vegetables. The main occurring problem is the missing irrigation system that allows constant production.

BASF together with the local partners are providing training, as well as agrichemicals and tools to increase the production. The main goal hereby is to implement a complete program from seed to the final product.

Through this project BASF reinforces the commitment to develop a sustainable world, bringing prosperity to rural areas and contribute knowledge and technologies to make a difference in the world.
