BASF is committed to taking a broad view of innovation challenges that includes not only market needs and technology trends but environmental and social challenges as well. To get to the bottom of these challenges, observation and local insights are key.
Creator Space Tour during the company’s 150th anniversary in 2015 took the focus on major challenges in the areas of urbanization, energy and food across all three sustainability dimensions: economy, ecology and society. On six Tour Stops worldwide at Mumbai, New York, Shanghai, Barcelona, Sao Paulo and Ludwigshafen we learned a lot about the different local challenges.
To present you a deeper insight into the related challenges you will find five White Papers on the next pages. The White Papers document the insights BASF has gained on diverse topics such as Water Supply in Mumbai or Waste Management in Shanghai. Each White Paper has two sections: The first consolidates the insights generated by the participants of the Creator Space summits. The second section offers solution ideas that address not only technology but other key areas that need to be addressed to create viable solutions. “The platform created is our offer to co-create and develop concrete actionable plans that can be followed up on by all contributors”, the authors of the Mumbai White Paper say.
