Come and join BASF as a chemist.

As the world’s leading chemical company we offer you attractive and challenging possibilities through exciting projects with future-oriented technologies such as biotechnology and nanotechnology coupled with processes for the efficient and sustainable handling of resources and energy. At BASF our chemists are interdisciplinary in their thought-processes. Innovations only rarely accept the boundaries within any given field. Our chemists from different fields inspire each other and of course always work together in a team together engineers and economists.

University graduates with several years' professional experience will find attractive career opportunities in the BASF research community. As a chemist with professional experience you will typically join us as an expert in one of our three research divisions – with immediate project or management responsibility, depending on your experience. Our operational units and competence centers are looking for new colleagues with expertise, for example in applications technology, analytics, patents or in scientific information.

Apply to one of our job postings or send us your unsolicited application.

We are looking forward to getting to know you.

As a chemist you have successfully completed your studies with a PhD and already have several years of relevant professional experience in the chemicals industry behind you. Or you have worked in one of our customer industries such as in the automotive sector, the adhesive industry or in crop protection.

You are open to everything that's new and enjoy scientific and technical challenges, which you approach with purpose and solve creatively with your own ideas. You enjoy working in an interdisciplinary environment and know how to lead a team to achieve the best results. You can also communicate self-confidently and convincingly in English and project management is routine work for you. You see business travel as an opportunity to further develop your linguistic and intercultural skills.

Usually you will start in one of the three global research areas of Advanced Materials & Systems Research, Process Research & Chemical Engineering and Bioscience Research.

As a chemist with professional experience in one of our corporate divisions, you can also contribute your specialist and industry expertise, for example as a product developer or in technical marketing.

Your introduction will be "on the job". From the outset you will be collaborating scientifically in a specific research project in a committed, competent team as an expert amongst experts.

University graduates with several years' professional experience will find attractive career opportunities in the BASF research verbund with challenging roles and tasks in highly-qualified project teams. Pass on your scientific know-how as a subject expert in analytics or applications engineering and solve demanding tasks in research and product development with a high level of personal responsibility. Your main task is scientific project management with regular commercial evaluation of the research project entrusted to you as  well as the registration of patents. An essential part of your work will be intensive collaboration with internal partners from research and development, marketing and production in interdisciplinary and often also intercultural teams.

We offer attractive framework conditions and excellent development opportunities.

In essence, two career paths are open to you: the scientific path as a subject expert in research or in one of the many development opportunities in other areas such as marketing, production, internal management consultancy, communications or human resources.

You can discuss your next career steps with your supervisor.

Many continuing education and training measures such as seminars or "on-the-job" training will support you in your plans.
