Innovative ideas require patent protection - worldwide
Support us in further expanding BASF’s leading position.
Our colleagues from various BASF departments - chemistry, process technology, biology, production or agricultural science - are always developing something new. To turn new ideas into products, our patent lawyers register on average over 1,000 patents with the European Patent Office in Munich for the BASF Group every year. With this number of registrations, we are right at the top internationally when comparing all classical chemical and pharmaceutical companies over a five-year period. We offer you a career with numerous options and involvement with the newest state-of-the-art technologies. You can expect interesting tasks - from supporting patent issuing processes and creating technology contracts to advising inventors and business units on strategic issues.
Trained patent lawyers with a background in natural sciences or engineering and several years of experience will find attractive career opportunities at Global Intellectual Property with BASF. As a professional with business experience you have the opportunity to join us directly as an expert in patent law - depending on your experience with either direct project or management responsibility.
Apply for one of the advertised positions or on a speculative basis - we are always looking for talented people.
You studied natural sciences or engineering, have successfully completed patent training and already have several years of business experience in patent law or in the chemical industry.
You communicate confidently and authentically in English and as a result of your proven management responsibility know how to lead a team to achieve the best results. You see travel as an opportunity to further expand your linguistic and inter-cultural skills. You are open to new things and enjoy technical and scientific challenges, which you approach purposefully and solve using innovative means. Customer orientation is as much a matter of course for you as the routine of project management.
Our specialists in the various BASF Group companies provide all of the professional services relating to intellectual property (IP) for BASF. With its head office in Ludwigshafen, Global Intellectual Property creates a tight-knit, international network for IP services.
As a patent lawyer you will work directly in the Global Intellectual Property unit. You will typically be responsible for one or more specialized technical areas and are therefore closely involved in the innovation process.
Candidates with several years of professional experience will find attractive career opportunities in the BASF research community with challenging roles and tasks in highly-qualified project teams.
You will receive on-the-job training in a committed, competent team as one of many professionals.
An essential part of your work will be intensive collaboration with internal partners for example from research, development, marketing and production.
We offer attractive conditions and excellent development opportunities in an international company.
In essence, two career paths are open to you: the patent law path as a subject expert or in one of the many development opportunities in other areas such as marketing, internal management consultancy, communications or human resources.
Many continuing education and training measures such as seminars or "on-the-job" training will support you in your career.
