The eco-efficiency tool is on the way from Ludwigshafen to the different regions of the world.
Instituted by BASF in 2005, Espaço ECO Foundation is located near BASF’s Coating Manufacturing Complex in São Bernardo do Campo and occupies a green area of 290,000 m² considered a Biosphere Reserve - a zone internationally recognized by UNESCO’s Man & the Biosphere Program (MAB).
BASF initiated the foundation in cooperation with GTZ (German governmental agency for international cooperation). Other partners in this inter-institutional partnership include São Bernardo do Campo's City Hall, SENAI (Serviço Nacional de Aprendizagem Industrial) and SESI (Serviço Social da Indústria).
BASF believes in building a successful future together with partners and, through Espaço ECO Foundation - considered the first Excellence Center of Applied Sustainability in Latin America - offering methodologies developed over 140 years of company’s existence which can be applied to other institutions that share the interest and commitment with sustainable development.
Espaço ECO focuses on promoting Sustainable Development in the society by transferring knowledge and technology, especially through the implementation of solutions in eco-efficiency, environmental education and reforestation.
The eco-efficiency team carries out Eco-Efficiency Analysis together with companies and other interested entities that want to evaluate the life cycle of their products and processes as well as their economic feasibility. The Eco-Efficiency Analysis helps companies to be more competitive in an increasingly globalizing economy.
