Circular Economy

For BASF, circular economy is much more than waste management. The aim is to close cycles and use products and resources in the best way possible across the entire value chain.


BASF is convinced of the possibilities offered by nanotechnology. It can be used to develop sustainable innovations to meet the challenges of the future.


BASF wants to ensure that its renewable-based products are made from sustainably sourced raw materials. This also applies to palm oil, palm kernel oil and their respective derivatives.


BASF and partners have announced the initiative “ZEROby40” to use their expert knowledge and chemical resources to support the research, development and supply of innovative products to eradicate malaria by 2040.

Cobalt initiative

BMW Group, BASF SE, Samsung SDI and Samsung Electronics have launched a joint pilot project in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to identify workable solutions that lead to better working conditions at the mine site.

Project Pragati

BASF, Arkema, Jayant Agro-Organics Ltd. and Solidaridad launched the project "Pragati" to improve working conditions, create awareness for sustainable farming and increase yields due to more efficient farming practices.
