Production Sites
The main production site of BASF is by the Rhine River, in Ludwigshafen, Germany. Ludwigshafen is the company's largest production site, global headquarters, and the center of its research activities.
BASF’s long tradition in the F&F industry dates back to the early 1980s when the company started up its own Citral production plant in Ludwigshafen. The Lysmeral® production plant followed in 2000 and in 2004 the Citral complex with downstream facilities (i.e. citronellol, linalool and geraniol) was opened in response to increasing customer demands for terpenes. The world's largest menthol production plant followed in 2012. With the Aroma Ingredients Complex in Kuantan, Malaysia, BASF is strengthening its global footprint and increasing its contribution as a recognized partner in the F&F market.
