Ten success stories of Espaço ECO® Foundation in Brazil
Feb 25, 2016
The Fundação Espaço ECO® (FEE®), a Center of Excellence in Applied Sustainability in Brazil that was established by BASF with the support of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in 2005 compiled ten success stories highlighting their work over the existing decade of operation. “Sustainability that is measured: 10 years creating value” was published on the occasion of the Foundation’s ten year anniversary and is now available as a book.
The Brazilian Foundation measures and assesses sustainability using internationally developed and recognized scientific methodologies based on life cycle analysis. By sharing this knowledge through educational activities and environmental conservation programs, sustainable development is promoted in the business environment as well as within the society, thus supporting BASF’s sustainability strategy in South America. Being established as a nonprofit organization, Espaço ECO® Foundation serves corporations, governments, organizations and universities in a partnership system.
“Over the past ten years, the Espaço ECO® Foundation has set partnerships with more than 20 organizations, such as universities, business schools, non-governmental organizations, research centers and has developed projects for more than 20 big companies and 23 agricultural cooperatives”, said Roberto Araújo, Head of Espaço ECO® Foundation. “Choosing only ten cases for the book was of course a difficult task. We therefore set criteria to have a representative sample encompassing the many different industries we have worked with over this past decade.”
