Are you a Developer with a passion for learning and exploring new technologies? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! We are seeking a Developer to join our dynamic Global Digitalization team at Care Chemicals. In this role, you will have the chance to embark on a complex digitalization journey, developing algorithms and rapid prototyping to support our initiatives. We welcome candidates who are open to critical thinking and ideation, and while a formal background is not essential, a willingness to learn and try new things is highly valued. This position will report to the Managing Director of BASF Croatia and the Global Leader of Digitalization at Care Chemicals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and develop applications that create added value for the business
  • Identify optimization opportunities
  • Design and develop Python scripts, use web scraping technologies and API implementations
  • Interact with stakeholders and provide consultancy to finalize the requirements of future IT solutions
  • Identify and implement digitalization projects with the goal of increased efficiency and business growth
  • Implement IT projects according to BASF’s strategy

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 2 years of professional experience in the IT field with focus on backend web development
  • Experience with Python and web services (REST), ideally Fast API
  • Good understanding of Python programing language (web scraping, API calls (external services), data manipulation, optimization)
  • Knowledge of SQL, noSQL (PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
  • Experience with Python scientific libraries (Pandas, SciPy, NumPy, etc.)
  • CI/CD knowledge – GitLab, Azure DevOps
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile development methodologies
  • Good understanding of mathematics, affinity for data and algorithms
  • Good English proficiency in written and spoken
  • Competencies: strong interpersonal skills, proactive attitude, problem solving, correctness, commitment to deadlines, team spirit (inter-departmental cooperation), adaptability
  • Good to have – experience with queueing (Redis, Kafka), caching, asynchronous calls
  • (optional or in progress) - University Degree (preferably computer science, data science, mathematics or related field)
