BASF Kids’ Lab celebrates its 10th year in Indonesia

  • More than 1,000 kids participated in 3-day program in Jakarta
  • New experiments introduced to kids in conjunction with BASF’s 150th anniversary celebration

Jakarta, Indonesia – November 16, 2015 – BASF, the world’s leading chemical company, celebrated the 10th year of BASF Kids’ Lab in Indonesia since its inception in 2005. To mark the anniversary, BASF brought the free interactive chemistry program to the shopping mall next to its head office in Jakarta, to enable more kids aged between six and twelve to discover the wonders of chemistry. More than 1,000 kids created chemistry through safe and hands-on experiments during the program which was held from November 13-15 at LOTTE Shopping Avenue.

“We wanted to make this year’s program special for the kids as we are celebrating two significant milestones in 2015. Globally, BASF is celebrating its 150th anniversary and in Indonesia, Kids’ Lab is celebrating the 10th anniversary. Besides extending the number of program days, experiment sessions and increasing the number of participants for each session, we also introduced a set of new experiments this year,” said CP Chan, President Director of BASF Indonesia.

The program received enthusiastic support from parents and kids with about 700 participants registered online. Special sessions were also arranged for less privileged children from welfare homes.  “BASF’s history has shown that chemistry is an enabler for a sustainable future. Through Kids’ Lab, we hope that kids would experience the fascinating world of chemistry and learn about its importance in everyday life,” added CP.

BASF Kids’ Lab began at BASF’s headquarters in Germany in 1997 and is currently conducted in more than 30 countries worldwide. In Indonesia, more than 5,000 kids had participated in the program since 2005.
