BASF switches their portfolio to bio-based Ethyl Acrylate (EA)
Ludwigshafen, Germany – BASF gives a clear sign towards biotransformation of their (Meth)Acrylate portfolio and switches their production to bio-based Ethyl Acrylate (EA) starting Q4 2024. With a 14C-traceable bio content of 40% according to DIN EN 16640 and a low Product Carbon Footprint (PCF), bio-based EA from BASF helps customers worldwide to reach their sustainability goals. The product offers a PCF reduction of ~30% compared to fossil-based EA. Additionally to regular bio-based EA, BASF also offers bio-based Ethyl Acrylate BMB ISCC Plus. Here, the remaining carbon content originated from fossil based acrylic acid is ISCC PLUS certified, and by applying BASF’s biomass balance (BMB) approach, this variant offers a further reduced product carbon footprint.
Safe and robust: Thyseed baby bottles now made of Ultrason®
Baby bottles of the baby feeding and nurturing products brand Thyseed are now made of BASF’s high-performance thermoplastic Ultrason®. The bottles for babies and toddlers benefit from the BASF polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) Ultrason® P 3010 in several ways: It is approved for food contact and features excellent mechanical strength, chemical resistance as well as resistance to superheated steam at 134°C. These properties ensure that the baby bottles are safe to use, while being lightweight and shatter-proof. They easily withstand the high temperatures in dishwashers and microwave ovens and can thus be reused many times without losing their excellent mechanical properties or their optical appearance. Thyseed and BASF have also entered into a strategic cooperation to explore the advantages of Ultrason® for other products of Thyseed in China and beyond.
BASF launches game-changing heat and light stabilizer Tinuvin® NOR® 211 AR for sustainable farming practices
BASF launches Tinuvin® NOR® 211 AR to support film producers and converters globally in navigating the challenging landscape of plasticulture – the use of plastic materials in agricultural applications. This new high-performance heat and light stabilizer protects and prolongs the lifespan of agricultural plastics that require resistance to high levels of inorganic chemicals like sulfur and chlorine. Tinuvin NOR 211 AR offers an effective value-in-use solution for agricultural plastics exposed to intense UV radiation, thermal stress, and inorganic chemicals commonly used in crop management and disinfection.
