With the TOP START International Business Leader Program we prepare highly qualified and perfectly trained young BASF managers to take on demanding positions. We face the competition with the best specialists and managers so that we remain successful in the future. We only offer this program to exceptional talent.

We are looking for the best graduates and young professionals with management potential. Candidates for the TOP START International Business Leader Program must have completed a business or economics degree (Master, Ph.D., or MBA, with no more than three years of work experience) with grades that are well above average. You should also have gained international experience, e.g. during your studies or at a global player. We value extracurricular activities and involvements. In addition to requiring fluent English, we assess your management potential on the basis of personal attributes and capabilities including:

  • Entrepreneurial action
  • Intercultural orientation
  • Advanced communication skills
  • Well-developed empathy for others
  • A strong team spirit

As a participant in our exclusive TOP START program for young professions, from the first day you will be prepared for future management tasks at BASF. We set the focus with you individually and this may be finance, controlling, strategy, supply chain, marketing, procurement or logistics.

The three-year program involves 2-3 stops, one of which will be at an international group company. From the first day you will take on responsibility during operating activities and project tasks and will be individually prepared for future management tasks.

Throughout the whole time we will support you not only with exclusive development offers but also via an experienced manager as a mentor. Job rotation will enable you to build up your personal network, including in a targeted way with BASF top management.

The program is rounded off by requirements-led additional qualifications for targeted development and regular feedback meetings.
