Tax specialists optimize the global tax position of the BASF Group and ensure that the company complies with all legal regulations and our stringent internal policies.

Our Corporate Tax department is based at our headquarters in Ludwigshafen. It manages central  responsibilities and is the contact for the entire BASF Group. Here and at many other locations within Germany and abroad, our experts deal with tax issues relating to mergers & acquisitions, tax compliance and intercompany transfer pricing, tax audits, and many other matters.

By applying our governance function in tax-related issues, we create added value for BASF – and thus contribute to the overall success of BASF. We make sure that the company complies with regulations by strictly adhering to internal policies and BASF's highest standards of business principles.

Tax specialists at BASF are responsible for reconciling business interests and tax optimization for BASF while at the same time complying with all legal regulations and BASF's strict business principles.

Your responsibilities as a tax specialist at BASF include:

  • Managing and monitoring tax compliance
  • Issuing inter-company transfer pricing guidelines, monitoring their implementation and providing advice
  • Structuring M&A transactions from a tax point of view
  • Globally developing strategies to optimize tax payments within the BASF Group
  • Managing tax issues related to operating divisions, regions, and all functions
  • Contributing tax aspects for financial accounting and financial statements for the BASF Group
  • Coordinating and monitoring wage tax issues in cooperation with all involved functions
  • Giving tax advice on indirect taxes as well as custom duties to operating divisions, regions, and functions
