In the context of BASF’s global commitment at the Sustainable Brands Conferences, BASF was present at three conferences in the first six months of 2015.
In late April 2015, the Sustainable Brands Conference took place for the first time in Barcelona. BASF took an active part as sponsor. Prior to the conference, BASF had been present at Sustainable Sunday, a familyfriendly event, with its Kid’s Lab program. Around 100 children between six and twelve years old playfully experienced chemistry in everyday life.
One month later, at the end of May, Dr. Dirk Voeste, Vice President Sustainability Strategy BASF, presented at the Sustainable Brands Conference in Istanbul how the company is driving sustainable solutions: “By 2050, there will be two billion more people on our planet. Therefore we are facing many challenges. We need to build more energy-efficient cities with less resources, and even cities producing their own energy. We, as an industry, hold the key to tackle these future challenges by providing innovations and solutions for a more sustainable future.”
As presenting sponsor, BASF took an active part at the Sustainable Brands flagship conference in San Diego in early June. The Opening Night Plenary was accompanied by a presentation by Charlene A. WallWarren, Director Sustainability at BASF. Following this BASF held a birthday party, celebrating its 150th anniversary together with the Sustainable Brands community. Throughout the event, BASF was showcasing in various presentations and in the so-called Activation hub area how to improve sustainability along the food chain, how to provide better access to food, and how to make food production more effective.
The next two Sustainable Brands conferences, with BASF as sponsor, will be held in Rio de Janeiro from August 25 to 27, and in Buenos Aires from September 1 to 2.
