BASF opens Construction Competency Center in Chigasaki to support construction customers in Japan

  • Upgraded technical development center is new headquarters for BASF Construction Chemicals division in Japan
  • New hub brings customers higher responsiveness and integrated services

Tokyo, Japan – November 16, 2018 – BASF inaugurated its new Construction Competency Center in Hagisono, Chigasaki City, the new headquarters for BASF’s Construction Chemicals division in Japan. The new center further strengthens the company’s innovation and services for construction customers in Japan.  

Takahiro Ikeda, Head of Construction Chemicals of BASF Japan Ltd. stated, “Our Chigasaki Technical Development Center has been sharing knowledge and best practices with industry professionals on a variety of concrete related research topics for many years. With this legacy of trust and innovation, BASF has now transformed the Chigasaki Technical Development Center into a Construction Competency Center, reinforcing our industry leading position and our commitment to providing quality products and solutions for the construction industry.”

The Construction Competency Center will also be the headquarters of BASF Construction Chemicals Division, managing 16 production centers across the country, as well as the operations of Pozzolith Solutions Limited. “The consolidation of all operational functions, including sales, marketing, customer services, research and development, and production management, will improve our operational efficiency. Our investment in the facilities and equipment will continue to bring innovations to our customers,” Ikeda continued.

In Japan, BASF established a new research and development team in 2016, along with a customer-focused subsidiary, Pozzolith Solutions, in 2017. The company successfully launched new admixture innovations, MasterRheosure® and the underground solutions, MasterRoc®, in 2018 and will continue to launch new technologies and products that meet the needs of Japan’s construction industry.
